Personally, I feel as though I do some of my best work in coffee shops. As distracting as it can be, to me, there’s something motivating being surrounded by the sounds of banging and clanging behind the bar.
One place I’ve recently discovered is Communal Coffee, a cozy coffee and boutique flower shop combo in North Park. Opened by owner Jen Byard, this low-key spot is the perfect place to grab a quick bite while tapping into your creative side.
I ordered an iced Americano and their signature avocado toast to celebrate my first visit to someplace other than Starbs.
The avocado toast consists of a rosemary sage bread base and topped with maldon sea salt, cracked black pepper, and smoked chili flakes. There’s also the option to add egg or prosciutto if you’re feeling extra fancy.
There is also the option to buy different types of greenery both inside the shop, as well at the connected nursery.
Stop by Communal Coffee if you’re looking for a place to study, socialize, or spark some creativity.
Communal Coffee is located at 2335 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104., open 7 days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM.
