This past weekend, I met up with a few friends for brunch in Pacific Beach. We had our hearts set on a certain place with mimosa flights, but with an hour and thirty-minute wait, it just wasn’t happening.
We took a short drive over to Fig Tree Cafe and I was really surprised at how cute it was. There’s lots of greenery and trees all over, with light and dark wooden furniture adding to the outdoorsy/rustic vibe.
The menu had a lot of health-conscious options, including Antioxidant Shots. I tried the Goji one, which supposedly helps with “the immune system, vision, fertility, and anxiety.” I also opted out of a mimosa (I know, who am I?!) for the Living Tea Rotating Kombucha, a fizzy, berry-flavored drink that was really light and refreshing.
We all opted for different things such as Eggs Benedict, Strawberry & Cream French Toast, a California Breakfast Burrito, and Yogurt & Granola. I chose the California Breakfast Burrito which was filled with “rosemary roasted potatoes, bell pepper cream sauce, pico de gallo, guacamole, skirt steak, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, scrambled eggs”, packed into a flour tortilla. It was so, so, so good but so, so, so filling. I couldn’t finish it which is rare for me when it comes to any type of breakfast food. I also stole a bite of the Strawberry & Cream French Toast made with gluten-free bread and it was delicious!
Fig Tree Cafe also has a dog-friendly patio, so our special guest Max was able to hang out and enjoy brunch with us!
Fig Tree Cafe is located at 5119 Cass Street, Pacific Beach, CA 92109 (Monday – Friday 8 am to 2:30 pm, Saturday – Sunday 8 am – 3 pm). They also have locations in Hillcrest and Liberty Station.
